Occupational Health Testing and Services available through our Burnaby Health Clinic include:

Pre-placement and periodic medical and functional exams

Matching the right employee to the right position helps employee retention and satisfaction. WMC conducts complete pre-placement medicals that include physical demands analysis to help you assign the right worker to the workstation best suited to their physical capabilities. Pre-placement medicals determine worker fitness and set the baseline to evaluate future injuries.

Pre-placement and periodic medicals and functional exams can include complete physicals, vision and audio screening, back stress tests, X-rays, and urine drug screening.

Laboratory testing

Laboratory testing typically includes vision and audio screening, X-rays, and urine drug screening. In addition, it can also include testing for specific diseases as well as x-rays, ultrasounds and bone mineral testing.

Physician and Nurse Examinations

Medical examinations are a part of a personalized, voluntary program to improve health awareness, promote wellness and prevent early disease. They are conducted by certified medical doctors or registered nurse practitioners.

These examinations include a review of medical history, a physical examination and can include ECG testing, audiogram screening, vision screening and a pulmonary function test (PFT), which screens for asthma, emphysema and other obstructive lung disorders. Examinations can also include testing to screen for specific diseases and x-rays, ultrasounds, and bone mineral testing. All confidential results and feedback are given to the employee.

Pulmonary Function, Vision and Hearing Testing

WMC can conduct pulmonary function testing (PFT), which screens for asthma, emphysema and other obstructive lung disorders. Examinations can also include testing to screen for specific diseases as well as x-rays, ultrasounds, and bone mineral testing.

WMC is Canada’s oldest and largest hearing conservation specialist. We offer on-site hearing testing in our state-of-the-art mobile units capable of testing up to 250 people per day.

WMC also offers custom fittings for hearing protection. In addition, we can conduct professional program assessments and noise surveys to determine the auditory safety of your workplace environments.

WMC conducts eye evaluations to assess acuity and/or vision impairment. These may be conducted as part of a pre-employment physical exam or as stand-alone tests

Mask Fit Testing (Quantitative and Qualitative)

WMC provides quantitative and qualitative mask fit testing. We have the necessary equipment and provide a qualified WMC technician to conduct the fittings either at a WMC clinic or at your place of business.

Flu and Immunization Programs

The flu vaccination is an important part of your occupational health program. It is a simple and effective way to reduce absences and increase productivity. Vaccinated employees experience 13-44% fewer doctor visits and 18-45% fewer lost workdays. COVID has only amplified these statistics, underlining the importance of immunization programs.

WMC provides convenient, cost-effective on-site flu clinics to companies across Canada to ensure your employees are vaccinated and you are helping to reduce the risk of transmission.

Drug & Alcohol Testing

WMC offers complete drug and alcohol testing services for your occupational health programs or to meet legal compliance requirements set forth by the U.S. Department of Transportation for long-distance trucking companies.

Our protocols follow the U.S. DOT protocols and include supervised saliva drug tests and urine collection and certified laboratory testing.
